Synopsis  
 

A half-day event to provide a convenient forum by which to understand current market sentiments in Indonesia, updates in Indonesian law which may have an impact on business, and how best to take advantage of any potential uncertainties in the Indonesian economy.

Bono Daru Adji, Partner at Assegaf Hamzah & Partners obtained his LL.M from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, in 1995 and has been practicing law in Indonesia since 1997, focusing on foreign direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets.


After a brief spell at another of Jakarta’s premier law firms, Bono joined Assegaf Hamzah in 2002, where he quickly developed a reputation for being at the cutting edge of Indonesian commercial law.


Bono is recommended for Capital Markets, Corporate / M&A and Banking & Finance by Legal 500, while Chambers Asia Pacific names him a “Leading Individual” in Capital Markets and Corporate/M&A, and quotes a client lauding him as someone “who really knows his stuff on capital markets,” and another referring to him as “a go-to person" in Corporate/M&A.


 

Mr. Ibrahim is currently the Senior Economist/Deputy Director with Bank Indonesia, Singapore Representative Office for South East Asia and Middle East since 2015. 


Before undertaking the new portfolio in Singapore, Mr. Ibrahim was previously from Bank Indonesia, Jakarta Head Office with Macroprudential Policy Department from 2013-2015, and with Economic and Monetary Policy Department from 2001-2013. 


One of his major tasks as Senior Economist is to provide two-way information: to update Bank Indonesia, Jakarta head office on the regional economic development and to deliver to Stakeholder the latest developments on Indonesian economy, especially on the monetary policy.


 

Mr. Ricky Kusmayadi, Director at The Indonesian Investment promotion Centre (IIPC) Singapore is responsible for promoting Indonesia as an investment destination and providing networking and matchmaking opportunities for both Indonesian and foreign entrepreneurs. He was appointed as the Director of IIPC Singapore on March 2015 and has been in charge for the office since. Prior to his deployment in Singapore, he was the Deputy Director of Training Centre at the Investment Coordinating Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BKPM).


Mr. Ricky has accumulated more than 7 years of experience in the field of investment, including investment promotion, consultation, cooperation, evaluation, licensing, etc. During his tenure in the Singapore, he has personally been involved in the direct investment of more than USD 500 million to Indonesia. He has also pushed for the improvement in the promotion effort of Investment in Indonesia which showed a rise in the total investment from Singapore to USD 16 billion in 2015.


 

Mr. Ivan Tan, Group Director, Southeast Asia & Oceania Group at International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, assists Singapore-based companies in exporting to and investing in the Southeast Asian region. IE Singapore’s overseas centres in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Surabaya, Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Yangon, Manila and Sydney comes under his charge. His Group works closely with relevant local and foreign government agencies, industry associations and business multipliers to expand the overseas footprints of Singapore-based companies into Southeast Asian and Oceania region. 


Ivan joined IE Singapore in 2006. Prior to his current appointment, Ivan was seconded to the Energy Market Authority, the regulatory agency for the power and gas sector of Singapore, as its Director of Planning. From 2009 – 2013, Ivan was Divisional Director for the Energy and Chemicals Division under the Trade Promotion Group where he led the team promoting Singapore as an oil and chemicals trading hub. 


 

Paul Ng, Partner at Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP, covers Rajah & Tann’s Singapore and Indonesia offices, having been based for Singapore for 10 years and in Assegaf Hamzah & Partners for the past 5 years. In Singapore, Paul was previously a partner in the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group, focusing on various banking, restructuring and insolvency related matters, including having acted for a number of private banks in investment related disputes as well as in company and personal bankruptcies, liquidations, judicial managements and schemes of arrangement.


Currently, Paul is a Partner in Rajah & Tann Singapore’s newly established Regional Practice Desk, focusing on assisting companies in their expansion efforts into Indonesia, ranging from incorporation and investment related advice to litigation and arbitration assistance.


 

Danny Ong, Partner at Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP, specialises in complex international commercial disputes and investigations, acting for corporations across a multitude of industries, including banking and finance, technology, electronics, shipping, commodities, oil and gas, and commodities.  He is also deeply experienced and known for his work in cross-border fraud and asset recovery investigations and litigation as well as multi-jurisdictional headline insolvencies.  Danny is regularly called upon by corporations and their officers to manage crisis or distressed situations and to drive the consensual resolution of disputes, and where necessary, litigate disputes before courts and arbitration tribunals to their conclusion as lead counsel. 


He has been recognized in his areas of expertise by international legal directories, with clients describing him as “an excellent litigator”, “our go-to guy", "good when you need someone to fight your corner", and “very commercial, he knows when he has to be aggressive and commercially aware at the same time".


 

Ahmad Maulana, Partner at Assegaf Hamzah & Partners joined the firm in 2006, having earlier earned his spurs at another leading Jakarta law firm.


Deeply interested in good governance and legal reform, Alan commenced his career as a researcher with the University of Indonesia Law School’s Judicial Monitoring Society. It was the same concerns that led him to join Media Center KPU, a UNDP-sponsored program aimed at disseminating information on electoral issues in Indonesia.


Chambers Asia Pacific 2014 names Alan a “leading individual” in Employment Law, reporting that he is “diligent, very professional and goes the extra mile.”
